How a pre-project consultation can make Digital Transformation easier for your organization
BlueRipplesDecember 23, 2020
Software development can be a difficult process at times but it doesn’t have to be. Based on our experience with previous projects we have refined our process so that it is transparent and easy to follow along.

If you have heard about us and are interested in how we can help you realise your idea or concept, give us a call or reach out to us at support@blueripples.com We will set up an initial call or meeting.
Meeting
Great products start with great partnerships. Pre-project consultation is not just data sharing, technical evaluation and budgeting. It’s a chance for us to get to know each other better as organizations so that we can create an impactful solution.
Once we have a preliminary discussion we will arrange a meeting with our consultation team which may include developers, designers and analysts depending upon the scope of your project. This is an important part of our process.
A shared understanding of objectives.
The focus in this stage is to understand your requirements in-depth. This includes figuring out the purpose of your product, the end user and the scope of your product. This will help us offer you a finely calibrated roadmap that best serves your requirements and deliver the most optimized product.
Project Analysis:
You might have amazing ideas or concepts for your business but if these requirements don’t align with the technology it might end up costing you.
Translating business requirements
into functional and (non-functional) requirements.
We ensure that your business requirements translate to functional requirements in the initial stages. In this phase we try to outline the Software Requirements Specifications (SRS) and study the system architecture in great detail. So that you have a clear idea of what is possible and what’s not.
A broad overview of the system architecture.
The choice of technology is an important part of pre-project consultation. This is an opportunity for you to get familiar with the technology choices so that you have a clear idea on what to expect.
We can evaluate your existing technology stack and preferences and recommend the best course of action to improve productivity and efficiency. While we have our own technology preferences, we are by no means limited by those.
Budget
A good budget is as important as a good strategy. Based on your feature list and the scope of each of the projects we will help you put together a responsible budget plan. Instead of blindly estimating the cost, we try to plan for a valuable first release. Once you have the basic budget we can look at adding or removing features or functions to give you the most value for your money.
Working with a flexible but well outlined budget will also eliminate unpleasant surprises for you. In an Agile Development process, where you have continuous updates this is an added benefit. You can create a great first release without going overboard.
Flexible costing with the Time and Material (T&M) model of billing.
We prefer a Time and Material (T&M) model of billing. Combined with the Agile Development process it has a lot of advantages over a conventional model of fixed cost billing.
You don’t have to sacrifice features and functions just because it was not accounted for in the original budget. Because it tracks the time and material expenses, the T&M model allows for a flexible budget.
It is low risk for the client because even the best laid strategies are prone to change and T&M model ensures that you pay only for the work performed.
Proposal
Once we tackle the preliminary stages of discovery, analysis and costing we will present a proposal. We call it ‘The Blueprint’ because that is exactly what it is. It will have a clear outline of the vision, costs, technologies and team structures. Once we have agreed on the details of the proposal we can work with your legal team to create a contract and determine the start date.
Timelines
We follow the industry standard lead time to allocate resources and finalize teams. Transparency and time-to-market are values that we strictly adhere to. That’s why we’ll establish a timeline according to ‘The Blueprint’ so that you can keep track of the development process and evaluate the progress.
